However, the Myanmar government has recently instructed for semi-permanent fencing and technical survey activities to take place and this is now the first time in Myanmar’s history that technical resources are being deployed as part of humanitarian mine action activities.
About the role:
As this is a start- up technical operation and the first time MAG will be deploying technical resources, establishing systems across all areas of operations from scratch will be an important element of the role. As a senior technical manager, you will be responsible for ensuring quality, safety and efficiency in our operations. You will hold a recognisable EOD qualification and have extensive experience in planning, implementing, managing, improving and reporting on technical operations.
About you:
You must be qualified to the equivalent of EOD level 3, with significant experience in the technical and operational management of landmine clearance including task planning and prioritisation, writing and reviewing SOPs, assessing clearance methodology and reviewing operational structures. Previous experience of working for a similar organisation, either in the humanitarian or commercial sector is essential, experience of managing a start-up technical operation would be desirable. Furthermore, you will be able to demonstrate excellent people management skills with previous experience of recruiting, mentoring and capacity building national staff. You will have high quality reporting skills and sound knowledge of IMAS as well as other NMAS. You will need to be flexible and capable of developing an understanding of the operating environment in Myanmar quickly in order to lead and contribute.
